For Ladies Who Lunch

Whether you’re treating Mum to high tea at the Hyatt, doing a long lunch 81 floors above Sydney at Sydney Tower, or a leisurely lunch cruise on Sydney Harbour, we know she’ll have a wonderful day feeling loved.

Satin pieces are such an elevated go-to, and luckily aren’t going anywhere! Dress up this gorgeous set from Sheike with a pair of simple nude heels from Forever New, or subtly match your sneakers, like with these Vega sneakers from Hype DC – it’s all in the details! Accessorising with a shoulder bag like this one from Sheike that which simply tucks under the arm. Practical and sheike, no pun intended.

For An Active Mother’s Day

It’s the Mother’s Day Classic’s 25th Anniversary! Join thousands of people at The Domain on Sunday 8th May to support and honour the 1 in 7 women diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Whether you opt to walk 4.8km or run 7.5km, there’s plenty of entertainment and activities on the day, making this a family event!

If you need new running gear, look no further than Rebel. Ascis have just released the GT 1000 11 Women’s Running Shoe, making it softer and more supportive than the previous version. And if you’re feeling any niggles after the run, head to My Healthy Massage, which will be sure to relieve any pain and prevent injuries.

For A Laid-Back Mother’s Day

Whether she prefers ‘Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ or ‘Downton Abbey: A New Era’, George St cinemas are screening both this Mother’s Day! Spending quality time together is often all Mum wants, no matter how fancy or laid back the plans might be. Be sure to stop by KitKat and explore their eclectic chocolate bar flavours. From Lotus Biscoff to Rocky Road or Raspberry Tart, there’s no shortage of incredible flavours that you and Mum can try!

For A Pampered Mother’s Day

Mum treats us every day, so today is the day to reciprocate and return the favour! There’s plenty of spas around Sydney CBD: The Day Spa at the Langham Sydney, the Crown Spa at Barangaroo or Endota Spa at The Four Seasons. Or, make a reservation with Leah’s Wax Works at MidCity. With plenty of special Mother’s Day packages available, including facials, eyebrows and massages, the lovely ladies at Leah’s will be sure to look after Mum and make her feel like a Queen!

No matter what Mum enjoys, she’ll be sure to feel extra loved and appreciated this Mother’s Day. Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers and mother-figures.

Harry. Styles. Sydney. Three of our favourite words.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know Harry Styles has just announced his Australian and NZ tour dates for his international tour, Love On Tour.

Coming off the back of his stellar Coachella performances with an iconic sequined jumpsuit, two new songs and a duet with Shania Twain and Lizzo, this announcement early Wednesday morning sent everyone into a frenzy.

You may be thinking, how are we supposed to live, laugh, love at Love On Tour? Chances of getting tickets have got to be slim. Wrong!

We’re here to lay it all out for you and give you the inside scoop, so we can all be crying and singing (mainly crying) to Falling or dancing to Watermelon Sugar together.

Presales

For those past purchaser ticket holders from his cancelled 2020 concert, you would’ve gotten a code emailed to you and can buy tickets at an exclusive presale from 12 pm on Thursday 21st April to 10 pm on Sunday 24th April.

You’ll gain JB Hi-Fi’s priority ticket access if you pre-ordered JB Hi-Fi’s exclusive Harry’s House yellow vinyl before 11:59 pm on 21st April. This presale runs from 1 pm on Friday 22nd April to 10 pm on Sunday 24th April. A unique access code will be sent to you by 10 am on Friday 22nd April.

If you’re a member of Live Nation, Ticketmaster or Accor Stadium, you get access to their respective presales, which go live a day before the general public on-sale, at 12 pm on Tuesday 26th April.

Foxtel Rewards members can access exclusive Reserved Tickets from 1 pm on Wednesday 27th April until 1 pm on Wednesday 4th May (but let’s be honest, there’s no chance there will be tickets left on the 28th April, let alone May).

Finally, the general on-sale starts at 1 pm sharp on Wednesday 27th April. We’re picturing that iconic scene between Hannah Montana and Tyra Banks, fighting for that pair of shoes. Sharpen those nails and get ready for a catfight, ladies and gents.

Gfycat: Hannah Montana Tyra Banks gif

If you’re in the nosebleed section, don’t fret; Kathmandu has you covered with binoculars! What may seem like a dinky idea is a super smart choice – everyone is going to be super jealous when you get to see Harry’s four nipples up close.

Getting tickets is just the beginning. What are you going to wear?!

If you managed to get pit tickets, platform shoes are a must. We’ve made things super easy and linked Hype DC’s extensive range of platform shoes so that you can get the best-unobstructed view of Harry.

We’ve put together a few outfit suggestions based on your favourite Harry songs.

If your favourite songs are Cherry, Sweet Creature, Fine Line, From The Dining Table and Falling, look no further than Sheike. With their fabulous range of satin finish shirts and loose dress pants, all you need is a pair of suspenders to encapsulate Harry’s iconic Love on Tour wardrobe.

If you like Sunflower Vol. 6, Golden, As It Was, Watermelon Sugar and Adore You, Cotton On Body’s range of exercise tights, flared pants and bike shorts is the way to maximise your dance moves. Pair that with a shirt from Harry’s merch, and you’ve got the perfect fit to be jumping and dancing the entire night.

If you gravitate more towards Kiwi, Woman, Only Angel, Medicine and Sign of the Times, Culture Kings is your go-to store. With bold patterned pants, graphic tees and a pair of coloured dunks, your fit will be fly and comfortable.

We’re looking forward to seeing all of you at Accor Stadium on Friday 3rd March 2023. Better yet, there’s less than one month until Harry’s new album, Harry’s House, gets released!

The Easter Bunny has hopped into MidCity Shopping Centre! With an empty basket in hand, the Easter Bunny has one special person they are going to buy for: Her.

First things first, chocolate. KitKat always releases special-edition Easter Chocolates, including their KitKat Chocolatory Creations Hot Cross Bun flavour or their KitKat Chocolatory Easter Box, which includes their KitKat x Lotus Biscoff collaboration. If you’re after the classics, they have chocolate bunnies and chocolate easter eggs in a gift box ready to go!

However, if you’re worried you are going to be filled to the brim with chocolate, opting for unconventional gifts might be the way to go.

Peter Alexander has released a Peter Rabbit collection! These designs are super cute and festive; plus, who doesn’t love new pyjamas! However, with sizes suitable for every family member, we don’t see anything wrong with getting the entire family matching sets from this collection!

If your lovely lady wants to subtly get into the Easter spirit, picking up a new pair of sneakers might be the way to go. With both Hype DC and Culture Kings at MidCity Centre, we’re spoilt for choice! Hype DC stock the Lacoste L001 women’s sneakers in pink/purple if she’s after something bold. Or, if she’s after something more subdued, Culture Kings stock the Women’s Nike Blazer Low ‘77 in both regular and platform.

Let’s not forget about Easter lunch. From bright blues to warm oranges and pops of pink, Sheike’s collection will have her looking good and feeling good!

Easter is a busy time for all. Why not show her some extra love and swing by Leah’s Wax Works? Eyebrow threading, waxing, facials and many more services are offered at Leah’s and loved by many.

Now that the Easter Bunny’s basket is full, it’s time to head home. But first, back to KitKat, it seems somebody got a little peckish whilst filling up their basket…

We wish you a very happy Easter and have a great long weekend!

The Short-List

Serve fresh looks somewhere new with our guide of where to wear these wardrobe essentials with recommendations, from bars to beaches, that will make the ultimate backdrop for creating lasting memories this Summer. So, ditch that passport and expand your horizons locally one sunny day at a time. Here are our top picks for shorts that are essential for warm-weather fun.

Who: For Her

What: Witchery White Linen Shorts

When shopping for Summer wardrobe staples, white linen is always at the top of the list for its effortlessly chic, crisp and breathable nature. We love these Witchery shorts for their subtle paper bag style, the belt with a touch of gold cinching in at the waist, right down to the oversized pockets and folded hem that sits at the perfect length. Easy to dress up or down with a heel or a flat sandal, enhance the gold details with bold jewellery, and either keep it tonal by pairing with a white top, like the lattice blouse pictured, or add some colour to brighten things up.

Where: A Beautiful Waterside Location

If you’re after a beautiful waterside location to turn heads, try The Boathouse Rose Bay or venture up to the central coast for a day trip with your nearest and dearest with a visit to The Boathouse Hotel Patonga, just don’t forget your swimwear for a post-bite splash at Pearl Beach, only a quick 8-minute drive away. Another venue Insta-worthy of wearing these white shorts is The Fenwick, for a quintessential Sydney dining experience in a historical setting on the harbour foreshore in Balmain East.

Who: For Him

What: Uniqlo Chino Shorts

Uniqlo is a one-stop shop for wardrobe staples, it’s a universal fact. We may be biased, but we firmly believe they stock the perfect range of shorts, our favourite being the classic Chino Short, followed closely by the Swim Active Shorts. Pair these back with Uniqlo’s iconic Linen Shirt and Crew Neck Tees to complete the look and colour block the combinations however you please. Grab a cap and sunnies and you’re set to sit back and relax all summer long.

Where: Casual Beachy Charm

If you want the stunning Sydney harbour view from the East-side, hit up Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel with the crew for a long lunch under the iconic striped umbrellas. For a sunset spritz session that brings all the relaxing coastal vibes in tow, we suggest unwinding at Freshwater’s newest Mexican restaurant on the block, St. Alma.

Who: For Kids

What: Just Jeans

Kids and denim are a match made in heaven, so of course, we can’t pass up on denim shorts as easy to style pieces that are comfortable all day long. Simply rotate with breezy tees and add mix up the shoes from slides too sneakers for the perfect accompaniment. For the younger ones, we love a darker shade like the Junior Boys Megaflex Denim Short Indigo Surf and the Junior Girls Jogg Short Ocean Waves, which has an easy drawstring moment. For tweens, refresh their wardrobe with a lighter, slightly faded wash like the Boys Megaflex Slim Denim Short Indigo Mist and the Girls Amaze Shortie Haze Blue.

Where: Dora The Explorer

Bring your child AND bring your inner child. It’s time to explore ocean pools with your mini this summer. North of the bridge, our favourites Baths are Little Manly and Northbridge, or if you find yourself venturing to the Inner West, Dawn Fraser Pool is a must. For those looking to step in between baths and a surf beach, Neilson Park is a go for kids big and small. Indulge in harbour views, rocks to jump off (carefully) and beautiful walking tracks to unleash your inner Dora.

Fill Your Break With Wonder

Let’s admit that Down Under we are envious of the Northern Hemisphere’s Christmas being synonymous with the picture-perfect fireplace roaring while you snuggle under a fluffy blanket with a “hot cocoa” in hand. But who said we can’t join in the fun? We believe that no matter the time of year, hot chocolates are always a great idea. So why not make Christmas that much sweeter with this delicious KitKat Hot Chocolate recipe that we guarantee Santa would rave about.

Prep time: 5 mins

Cook time: 10 mins

Total time: 15 mins

Servings: 2

Ingredients

  • 1 x your favourite KitKat bar (diced finely)
  • 140g chocolate (dark or milk), chopped into small pieces
  • 4 cups of milk (of your choosing)
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup whipped cream
  • Garnish – cocoa powder + marshmallows

Method

  1. Heat the chocolate and milk in a saucepan over medium heat until the chocolate has fully melted. Then whisk the mixture until it is frothy.
  2. Add in the vanilla and continue to whisk. Now simply remove from the stovetop, garnish with KitKat, cocoa powder and marshmallows, then serve!

Tips

Alcohol optional – add ½ cup coffee liqueur and enjoy!

Keep It Chill

If you’re feeling the heat, opt for a frozen alternative by adding vanilla ice cream! Simply combine the above recipe with vanilla ice cream and blend until smooth.

That’s A Wrap

Your Ultimate Holiday Prep Checklist

It’s been a hot minute since anyone got to dust off their passport, or even just had the chance to pack a weekender bag to escape up the coast. No matter what the next trip you’ve booked is, we’ve got the ultimate guide to ensure you start your much needed holiday off on the best note.

Holidays are for relaxing so when it comes to beauty, you want to keep it as low maintenance as possible. We also know that when you look good, you feel good. So prep is the key to success.

Make holiday prep a breeze with the talented team at Leah’s Wax Works. They have basically every beauty service under the sun, so you can glow and go.

Packing, now this is a big one. You’ve either been that person that realises when it’s too little, too late, that you’ve forgotten THAT thing, or you’ve witnessed. Either way, it’s something that can be and should be avoided. A few weeks out, start writing a list, whether this is in your diary or in the notes section of your phone, so you can add to it as you remember items. It’s good to have time on your side to be able to buy things like skincare or new swimmers. Break down your list into categories like clothes, toiletries (opt for travel-size products), electricals, accessories, footwear, etc. Don’t forget your headphones, a good read, sunscreen, a water bottle, and if you’re heading to international waters, your passport!

When it comes to the packing stage, you need to be smart and make the most of your bag space. Tightly roll everything and anything, instead of folding. Then fill any gaps with socks and underwear.

Now, Pack Your Bags For The Sun & Sea

It’s time to pack your bags for the sun and sea! We’re celebrating the good life the only way we know-how, in style. So get excited to switch into holiday mode as we transport you to Italy’s Amalfi Coast.

Throughout the month of November, we’re running a few in-centre giveaways as a thank you for your support. We want to reward you with a $25 MidCity Gift Voucher! Simply spend a minimum of $80 at MidCity Shopping Centre and show us proof of purchase at the Italian themed pop-up installation on the Ground Level (located next to Forever New, it’ll be hard to miss) to receive the gift voucher. Pop in from Friday, 12th to Sunday 14th, and again Friday 26th to Sunday 28th for your chance to get a slice of the pizza.

Want a chance to win something even bigger? While it’s not flights to Italy, you could win a $1000 MidCity Gift Voucher so you can build the ultimate Summer wardrobe. Simply register via MidCity wifi to be in the running.

Eataly

Want a classic Italian Lobster Pasta recipe with a modern twist? Well, watch this space as we team up with one of the best Italian Chef’s, better known as Chef Luca, who will talk (in his authentic Italian accent) you through an easy how-to recipe on MidCity’s Instagram Reels. Trust us, you’ll want to save this one! It’s the perfect excuse to host your own Italian themed dinner party. Convincing your loved ones that you’re worthy of auditioning for Masterchef will never be easier. Buon appetito!

To add to the ambience and truly transport your guests to the land where you inhale food like air, you obviously need a Euro Summer Playlist to match, and after a few Aperol’s, a dance floor will naturally flourish. Click here for the good tunes, and we’ll leave you in charge of the good times.

If you prefer to be on eating duty as opposed to cooking, then check out our guide of Sydney CBDs must-try Italian and French bakeries, cafes and restaurants. We’ll be saving the goodness to our Instagram, so you can be referring back to it when you’re next in town visiting for a shop and want a fuel stop that doesn’t involve a crowded food court.

Relax

Going with the flow is always a good thing, especially when it’s in the form of yoga. Its calming nature is the ultimate refresh for your body, mind and soul. Perhaps you’re a novice, need a break from high-intensity workouts, or are just looking for some new content, either way, everyone needs to unwind and stretch it out. Virgin Active has yoga for every soul and every goal. Choose from classes (both online and offline) with dynamism, energy and athleticism, to an authentic and peaceful experience that will help you find infinite stillness.

If you’re after the perfect activewear to get you motivated and take your fitness to the next level, look no further than Rebel. Want super soft, supportive and breathable pieces that are made for all the ways you love to move? Be sure to check out the latest from Adidas, Running Bare and Nimble.

Recharge

Smoothie bowls are one of the easiest ways to do recharge and refuel and can be mixed up every time with new ingredients and toppings. 1 passionfruit
Granola (handful)

Method:

  1. Add banana, protein, matcha, spinach and milk to a blender.
  2. Blend until smooth and transfer to a bowl.
  3. Cut passionfruit in half and garnish with blueberries and granola.

For more delicious and nutritious recipes, including one for Biscoff Pancakes, head to Bondi Protein Co’s website.

Reflect

A great way to start your day off on the right note is by setting yourself up mentally, and journaling is one of the best ways to do that. Taking the time to journal, especially when you write it by hand, is a form of self-care that allows you to reflect and develop a deeper understanding of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

If you’re new to journaling, or in need of some journal prompts inspiration, here are some of our favourites to get you into a healthy mindset:

Whether it’s a day off, a day behind the desk, or a day of seemingly endless tasks, remember, you’ve got this! The day is yours, so make it a good one.
