Stuck of being stuck at home? Let your star sign element give you some inspiration of how to spend your time during lockdown.

Many of us are now certified experts in ranting about how bored we are, whilst some of us have seen lockdown as a golden ticket to put productivity to the ultimate test despite experiencing realistic moments where checking everything off that “to do” list isn’t always breezy. Others have become bonafide healthspo’s, mastering the early morning runs and yoga routine, to making magic in the kitchen that actually is as delicious as it looks on the Insta feed. And some of us, admittedly, just want to hit the snooze button and stay in that delightful cloud called bed.

To spice up your day (no, unfortunately the Spice Girls aren’t doing a virtual reunion concert), we’ve listed out activities that are suited to you this quarantine according to your zodiac element. After all, it’s basically written in the stars.

The Fire Signs Edit

Aries, Leo, Sagittarius

You have a fun-loving nature and you’re doing your best to not let lockdown weigh you down. You draw strength from your social connections, so you’re probably planning the next zoom quiz night with your friends, being sure to include some travel related questions while your passport takes a break, as much as you’d love to hop on a plane right now. You seize this an opportunity to look damn good and go ahead with your online shopping weekly splurge, even if your savings account may disagree, seeing a package on your doorstep will never not be exciting.

When you’re not chatting with friends and making them laugh, you take the opportunity to sweat it out. If you’re getting bored of your usual workout routine, why not try Virgin Active’s free workouts! Coming to you in the comfort of your own home, every weekday at 2pm Virgin Active will go Instagram live with short and sharp workouts to boost your mental well-being and overall mobility with their expert coaches. Need the perfect playlist to pump yourself up? Try our current favourite playlist, it’s guaranteed to get your endorphins going before you can even say the word GO!

Remember that even the most warm-hearted and vibrant in personalities sometimes need to wind it down. So put your phone down and settle in for some quiet time, either grabbing a book, watching a movie or starting a new podcast to keep that entertainment going because self-expression brings you joy.

The Earth Signs Edit

Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn

You are always looking for ways to be productive and organised, although you have to be honest that you’ve been experiencing moments of stress and procrastination. Remember to take some time to slowdown and get your health and wellness in check. You crave nature and luxury so why not go for a bike ride and breathe in the fresh air, or buy yourself some plants or flowers to brighten your space. Do whatever you can to use nature to replenish yourself after a hard week.

You’ve considered doing a five-day juice detox because you’re taking this time to focus on eating a well-balanced diet. You know a healthy body and a healthy mind is key, so you should make time to do some yoga or stretch. If you’re overwhelmed by all the workout programs clogging up your Instagram feed, we suggest taking advantage of Virgin Active’s complimentary access to live and on-demand workouts, it’s everything you need in one play, and free!

You know how to find your perfect balance. You love indulging in elements of beauty, so why not stock up on skincare from Chemist Warehouse or try out the incredible at-home eyebrow tint kit from Leah’s Waxworks, you know it will instantly lift your mood. While your face mask works its magic, knock out any lingering tension by grabbing an adult colouring book or a canvas and paint out all that stress. Don’t forget to take this time to watch your favourite feel-good movie and release all your emotions.

The Air Signs Edit

Gemini, Libra, Aquarius

You love exploring new environments, getting out into nature and escaping from the stress waiting for you back at home. You have nailed hitting your 10k steps goals most days, but now take this time to challenge yourself and take up running. Treat yourself to new running shoes from Rebel whilst you’re at it.

You are one chatty soul, so FaceTime a friend, or chat your heart out. Depending on your mood you’ll either keep it lighthearted or suddenly find yourself having a deep and fulfilling conversation. Since your first love is cleanliness and music, having a spring clean whilst blasting your music isn’t seen as such a chore. Light your delicious scented Peter Alexander candles and jump in the bath, just don’t forget to use those bath bombs so you can feel truly refreshed. With the focus being to wind down the hyper energy within you, this might be the best time to start meditating. We’re obsessed with the Calm app, it will result in clearer thoughts and put your mind at ease.

You’re a sponge for learning and are full of random knowledge, so why not collect all this information and start writing a blog. Write something fresh and interesting that will keep you going during this lockdown. It’s time to show off your natural wordsmith skills once and for all.

The Water Signs Edit

Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

You easily adapt yourselves into keeping yourself entertained, and honestly, lockdown suits you (to an extent), as you’re the ultimate homebody. You’re a creature of comfort, so sitting on a couch all day binging Netflix series suits you, even more so when you’re wearing a cute matching, chic loungewear set from Forever New.

You love spending this time with loved ones, and thrive in the kitchen, so showering them with tasty dinners and baked goods is equally rewarding as it is relaxing for you. Maybe it’s time to show off your master chef skills, either start an Instagram highlight or step it up and make some TikTok videos. Dinner parties are your forte, so why not make them a weekly event and mix up the theme to keep it fun and fresh for all involved. Whether you live with your nearest and dearest with them or instead have to give them a call, you’re a natural at staying in touch and ensuring your relationships are thriving. You’ve probably initiated a few games nights as you see them as an opportunity to learn something new whilst simultaneously filling up your social cup.

If the novelty of reporting for duty in your sweats all day has worn off, you’ve probably come to the realisation that to maintain some normality to your WFH routine, you need to find the balance between comfort and productivity when getting dressed. Wearing an outfit that you love and makes you feel confident, focused and ready for a day of work is not only a motivating mood booster but will define the difference between your work day and your home life. Plus, it’s about time you can use the “thanks, it’s new” phrase again when your work wife comments on your latest purchase.

Coinciding your WFH zoom calls, your walks (even if just to the fridge) and your self-care routine, we’ve curated the cosiest and chicest business ready looks that will make you feel like a boss.

On June 28 2021, we were advised by the New South Wales Government that a person who recently tested positive for COVID-19 visited the Uniqlo MidCity store on 21 June 2021, between 10:15am-11:15am. On advice of the New South Wales Government, we urge any customers who visited the store during that period to obtain a COVID-19 test as soon as possible, and to self-isolate until cleared by NSW Health.

The health and safety of our customers and employees is out top priority. In accordance with public health guidance, this store will be professionally deep cleaned and all the staff members working during the above period will be tested and will self-isolate until cleared. We will continue to work closely with the public health authorities to ensure we are taking the right precautions.

MidCity will remain open. Please check with each individual retailer for their trading hours throughout the lockdown period.

Autumn, we’re falling for you. Cool nights turn into mild days and we begin to break out our favourite jeans, boots and cozy jumpers. If like us, you can never have too many clothes, we’ve put together some tips on how to start putting together your ‘cool girl’ Autumn wardrobe.

Shirt Dresses

In Australia, we are lucky enough to experience mild Winter months compared to many other parts of the world. That means trans-season purchases are perfect for us! Shirt dresses are a great example of a piece you can buy early in the season and wear throughout Winter. Here are some of our favourites from Witchery. Pop them with a cute cardigan, tights and boots for a warmer style.

One, Two, Three.

High Waisted Jeans

The high waist lives on! No matter if you like skinny, straight or flared jeans, high waists are still the go-to this season. Here are some of our favorites for styling up or down.

One, Two, Three.

Tennis Style Jewellery

Keep a taste of Summer in your wardrobe with classic tennis-style jewels. It’s like you never left the courts side at the country club!

One, Two, Three.

Mini Bags

There is nothing better than the juxtaposition of a mini bag against an oversize warm coat! The big coat provides you with all the warmth you need to be out on the town, while the mini bag adds back in a touch of femininity to an oversized look.

One, Two, Three.

Coats

As previously mentioned, an oversized warm coat works wonders for an Autumn to Winter look, elevating jeans and a t-shirt to an off-duty model look in an instant. Here are some coats which aren’t afraid to add flair to your wardrobe.

One, Two, Three.

Sneakers

Off duty model, the dad sneaker and the classic sneaker worn by all. These are a few must have sneakers to carry you through 2021. Sturdy and trendy – exactly what we need.

One, Two, Three.

Warmth, style, durability and long-lasting is what putting together a great seasonal wardrobe is all about. And it’s all right here, at MidCity.

Happy Lunar New Year from MidCity!

The Ox is the second of all zodiac animals. According to one myth, the Jade Emperor said the order would be decided by the order in which they arrived at his party. The Ox was about to be the first to arrive, but Rat tricked Ox into giving him a ride. Then, just as they arrived, Rat jumped down and landed ahead of Ox. Thus, Ox became the second animal.

The Ox is also associated with the Earthly Branch (地支 / dì zhī) Chǒu () and the hours 1–3 in the morning. In the terms of yin and yang (阴阳 / yīn yáng), the Ox is Yin.

2021 is the year of the Metal Ox, and its message couldn’t be clearer: Success will come to those who work hard. Really hard.

Oxen are honest and earnest. They are low key and never look for praise or to be the center of attention.  Rarely losing their temper, they think logically and make great leaders.

In agricultural societies, oxen are reliable and strong work animals. They were responsible for the survival of humanity. The Rat year continues over into the Ox year to complete it, ground it, bring it to its resolution.

We hope you have a safe and prosperous Lunar New Year!

There’s a reason why linen has been worn for millennia: It’s scientifically proven to be a cooler fabric than cotton or silk. Silk retains heat, while cotton tends to fall closely to the body, meaning you’re in for a sweaty day if you choose either.

Luckily, linen clothing is always in fashion, which means investing in a great linen piece now will give you excellent cost-per-wear value as it will stay looking beautiful for years. Despite changes in shapes, cuts, lengths and colors, linen fabric itself is always popular. Opting for classic styles in this timeless fabric means you can future-proof your wardrobe, as well as feeling ready for the new season.

This selection at Just Jeans are 100% linen, coming in many different colours. Pair effortlessly as a layering piece or tied up with a pair of lighter denim, linen skirt, or jeans as we head into Autumn.

Style up with Witchery‘s 100% linen options. The line pocket shirt has a utility-inspired button-through style in a regular fit for wear throughout the Summer and beyond. Pair with some white shorts or skirt, or with jeans and boots for a military chic look.

The linen and leather mix of Mimco’s latest collection is the perfect way to utilise linen’s durability while featuring its comfortable aesthetic. The colour combination and selection of goods makes it easy to match your shoes and bag, while encompassing a subtle hint of linen texture to soften an outfit.

While Christmas is about gifting, we know that this year is a little different. Whether you can be together with family, or if you are joining a Christmas Facetime with special people scattered around the world – meaningful gifting has never been more important. We have put together a gift guide to help make it a little easier.

Kathmandu + Surprises

Next year will be about making memories, what a perfect Christmas gift. For that outdoor junkie or even the part-time glamper, booking a surprise trip as a present is bound to get you in the good books. Put together a gift hamper of all the Kathmandu goodies they might need, and sweep them away for a few days off the grid. Sounds like heaven!

Get blinged with Swarovski

This pair of earrings by Swarovski are characterized by simple silhouettes, perfect for the gal known for her simplistic style. Each hoop is formed by a row of gleaming white stones, expertly cut into sparkling, faceted round, square, trillian, and drop shapes.

These are a timeless addition to a cool-girl everyday look and are easy to combine with existing pieces of jewelry.

Gift Voucher from Leah’s Wax Works

Give the gift of self-love this holiday season. With a gift voucher from Leah’s Wax Works at any value from $20 – $150, you can ensure your loved one is pampered.

Tissot Timepieces

The Tissot Chrono XL Classic is one of the largest chronographs (45mm) in the Tissot collection. Keeping the spirit of the original Tissot Chrono XL but with a more elegant and classical design. This is a great watch for those looking to give a timeless gift at an affordable price point.

Gearing up at HypeDC

2021 is set to be the year we make the most of Australia. Big adventures require comfy shoes. Pick up a pair of Arizona Birkenstocks from HypeDC as a gift for him. They can withstand Aussie Summer and see him through 2021 with everything it will throw at him. We have been known to sport them with a pair of socks in the Winter too 😉 .

Play ball with Rebel Sport

Mates are an important part of Christmas celebrations, that Boxing Day catch-up is a must. Rebel Sport is a top spot to pick up a new ball – whatever game is your go-to. Bonus points for working off all that Christmas pud.

Christmas is such a special time of year and if 2020 has taught us anything it’s how precious it is to be able to spend time with loved ones.

This year, why not add an extra special touch to your gifts with unique wrapping. So, what is the best way to wrap your gift?

Let’s start small. With smaller gifts such as a Tissot watch, Mimco jewellery or a delicate piece from Swarovski, we suggest checking out the furoshiki method! This method was historically used to carry clothes safely to and from the bathhouse in Japan. Nowadays, you can use this wrapping method for wrapping gifts in a sustainable way.

What will you need?

  1. A square piece of fabric (ideally three times the size of the present)
  2. A gift
  3. Optional: extra decorations (a sprig of eucalyptus, a card, gift tags etc).

Check out this video for a great example of how to wrap furoshiki style!

For medium and large gifts, there are so many creative ways to reuse wrapping paper, bags and bows to keep your waste down. When gifting goodies such as clothes from Just Jeans, Uniqlo, Sheike and Forever New, try rolling them up and creating a bon-bon. This uses less paper than traditional wrapping and the shape is perfect to then go under the tree.

What will you need?

  1. A square of wrapping paper double the size of your gift.
  2. A soft gift such as clothes, rolled up neatly.
  3. Two pieces of ribbon, each long enough to tie a bow. These do not need to match.

So this year, level up your gift wrapping and make Christmas for your loved ones that extra bit special.
